The world recognized the legendary status of the tequila region in 2006, with the naming of a small section of the Mexican state of Jalisco a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This designation includes the region’s agave fields, distilleries, tabernas, the Teuchitlan archaeological sites, the towns of Tequila, Arenal, and the home of Casa Herradura—Amatitán.
