Biography of Kimberly Caldwell

Kimberly Caldwell

Kimberly Caldwell knew where she belonged when she first stepped on a stage at only 5 years old. At the age of eleven, she made her youth dreams come true by winning Ed McMahon’s Star Search 5 times and holds the record for most number of wins for a Junior Vocalist. She then went on to be a featured performer in the production show, Country Tonite, in Branson, MO, performing two shows a day, 6 days a week until she was 15. After taking a few years off to finish school in Texas, she jumped back on the stage and became a finalist on the second season of American Idol where she was an instant fan favorite with her gutsy vocals, passionate performances and earthy charisma.

Shortly after leaving Idol, she landed a correspondent/host gig for the Fox Sports Network. After the nationwide Idol tour, Caldwell became the host and cohost of numerous TV Guide Network shows including Reality Chat, Idol Tonight, Idol Chat, and M-Vids, as well as covering many red carpets for the network like the Grammys, Emmys, Academy Awards, Golden Globes, People’s Choice Awards and movie premieres.
Teaming up with Mark Burnett Productions in 2008, she hosted CBS’s Jingles and P.Diddy’s Starmaker on MTV in 2009. Also in 2009, Caldwell became the face of YMI Jeans’ national ad campaign and was featured in full-page ads in numerous national magazines and gracing 60 foot billboards throughout Los Angeles.

After 7 years in the hosting arena, she decided to take a break to fulfill her lifelong dream of creating an album. She signed to Vanguard and Capitol Records and her debut album, “Without Regret,” was released in 2011. Caldwell’s writing skills were featured as a co-writer on nearly half of the album.

After the promotional tour for the album, she came back to LA to get back to business, once again landing a Mark Burnett hosting gig for Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp on VH1 in 2011. She continued showing off her hosting chops landing Bunim Murray’s tattoo competition show, Best Ink, premiering on the Oxygen Network in early 2012.

Over the years, Caldwell has been a featured guest on many television shows including Ellen Degeneres, Rachael Ray, Dr. Phil, Tyra Banks, LA Ink, Larry King Live and numerous shows for VH1.

Caldwell’s acting credits include the Fox sitcom Life on a Stick, the movie Wrong Turn 2, opposite Jon Schneider in the mini-series 26 Miles, and recently landed a guest star role on TNT’s Franklin and Bash, airing in the summer of 2012.

Still writing and recording as often as possible, Caldwell continues to perform steadily throughout the U.S. and was recently featured at the grand opening of Universal Studios Singapore with Paula Abdul.
